This newsreel is a compilation of events that happened in Ireland during 1923. The events are varied in content and tone but provide an interesting perspective on a country reaching the end of one of the most revolutionary periods in its history.



Intertitle 1 - January 22nd. Irish Air Force established.
Intertitle 2 - February 20th. Ireland's new Police Force - the Civic Guard parade with President Cosgrave taking salute.
Intertitle 3 - March 4th. Mike McTigue wins the Middleweight championship of the world
Intertitle 4- April 3rd. Customs Frontier established on the Northern Border 
Intertitle 5- May 18th. Wireless romance. Owen McKenna, a radio operator, married Lady Pleasance Rous.
Intertitle 6- May 29th. President Cosgrave visits Kilkenny and addresses his constituents.
Intertitle 7 - June 21st. Three Irishmen set out on a twenty tonne boat to tour the world.
Intertitle 8 - July 15th. Ireland's premier motorcycle race
Intertitle 9- July 17th. Irish language revival. Classes for teachers in full swing.
Intertitle 10- Cenotaph unveiled in memory of General Michael Collins and President Arthur Griffith.
