This was Louth’s first appearance at this stage since 1912 and they were the better team for much of the game, with Nicky Rowe scoring the game’s first point and the team leading at half-time. However, Mayo increasingly took control of the game in the second half, though their victory was only assured by a late goal (not captured here) five minutes from time from Mick Flanagan, after Tommy Langan blocked an attempted clearance by Louth right half back Seán Boyle before passing to Flanagan to score. Mayo’s star players included Paddy Prendergast, ‘Mighty’ Tommy Langan, and Éamonn Mongey. Hubert Reynolds, Tom Conlon, and Paddy Markey all played strongly for Louth, while Roger Lynch almost won the game for the Wee County with a final effort on goal that went narrowly wide. The package again features great footage of the build-up to the game, as well as the minor encounter between Kerry and Wexford.
